Eric and Friends goes international....helps bring Joyce from Holland to US for last wish
On July 31st at MP you all made a little girl's dream come true. So many of you did so many wonderful things I just don't know where to begin. Track photographer Bill Denver was there to capture the moment.
Yesterday at the Haskell there were so many of you that went out to the Box to check on Joyce just say hello. I was so proud of all of you. We all only wish that we had some miracle cure to stop the cancer. Your prayers and thoughtfulness have kept Joyce fighting the good fight. Thank you all.
And although we just met the de Vogel's and the Hershey's we all feel as if they are our next door neighbor that we have known all our lives. Joyce is going to New York to enjoy a day of shopping.....

The Omaha Street School Thank You
The Omaha Street School, a non-profit, urban high school that gives teens a second, and usually last, chance to obtain a diploma was recently awarded a gift thru Eric and Friends. “It seems fitting that a foundation which remembers such a warm and caring young man, who left a substantial network of like-minded people, would contribute to an organization that seeks to create the very type of person we saw in Eric,” stated John Parsons, Executive Director of OSS.
Your support is providing tangible assistance to those who need it most.

Eric and Friends helps young family in need
Thank you for your recent donation that will benefit Eric Sorgenfrei and his young family. Eric was diagnosed in June with leukemia and since that time has been enduring grueling rounds of chemo treatments that include lengthy hospital stays. Eric’s next step is to undergo a bone marrow transplant which means an additional hospital stay of three or four months. All of this, of course, amounts to a never-ending stream of medical expenses.
Eric is married and he and his wife, Rachael, just recently welcomed a new baby daughter (Emma) into their family. Due to his illness, Eric has been unable to work for the past few months. Your unexpected donation to the Eric Sorgenfrei Benefit Fund was truly a welcome godsend.
Your generosity and willingness to help someone you have never met is amazing and truly appreciated. God bless you.
Many thanks,
Mona Haremza
Friend of the Sorgenfrei Family

Eric and Friends Helps Out Young Lady and her Family
Tracy Harter, Omaha, Nebraska, had a brain aneurism and was in a coma for a number of months. Out of the coma she has had to relearn virtually all of her normal skills. Obviously this has placed trendous financial pressures on her husband and children. Eric and Friends has helped in this recovery. Her brother wrote this note:
"I just wanted to say thanks so much for your donation to my sister, Tracy Harter. You have no idea how much this means to our family. You are an amazing (group) for helping my family. You have helped make the recovery one step closer to them getting as close to a normal life back. Words can't express how much we want to say "thanks".

Recent Thank You Letter
Eric and Friends has recently made a donation to a gentleman who suffers from Lewy Body Disease. Lewy Body is a degenerative brain
disorder that shares characteristics of both Parkinson's and
Alzheimer's. Its cause is unknown, and there is no cure. Symptoms
include depression, tremors, shuffling, apathy, anxiety, and memory
loss. A golf tournament was put together by friends and family in
order to help raise money for medical bills. Erick and Friends
sponsored a hole at the tournament. The donation is much appreciated
by the family, and they want to express their thanks. They have been
blessed with wonderful friends who have given support in so many ways.
The family can never express how thankful they are to have so many
people, including Eric and Friends, who care about their father and
husband and the impact this terrible disease has had on such a wonderful man.

Thank You letter from Lisa and Trey Lindsey
Hello Johnson Family and Friends. My name is Lisa Lindsey. My son, Trey Lindsey, was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease last year. It was such an advanced case, that he just started dialysis. We are now starting the process toward getting him a kidney transplant.
My friends held a benefit for us on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, to help with medical expenses and my time missed from work. Everyone put in so much effort and love into this event, that is was apparent and overwhelming to see.
To my surprise, and emotional delight, I was the recipient of an Eric and Friends donation. It was completely unexpected, and when the DJ announced it, my protected wall from over-emotion came crumbling down. Even my friends sobbed for me.
This was such a generous, heart warming gift to give to my son and I. It will help so much, and I am truly humbled to have been chosen. I want to thank you Eric and Friends, as well as your donors/members. I am truly blessed to have crossed paths with such kind and giving people. I have formed life-long friendships with some of the finest sets of human beings. I am so lucky, and even luckier to have groups out there like you, helping families like me.
THANK YOU from the depths of my heart. I will gladly speak of my experience, and encourage others to share on their birthday. You have made such an impact Eric and Friends, that I will never forget.
With much love, and many thanks,
Lisa and Trey Lindsey

Recipient left in tears from generosity of Ericandfriends donors
To the Johnson Family/Eric and Friends,
I just want to thank you for the awesome contribution you made tonight to my friend, Lisa, and her son, Trey. You could not have made a better choice in a recipient. I wish you could have stayed around long enough to see Lisa’s face when the donation was announced on stage. When she heard that Eric and Friends was donating $1000, she almost fell over crying. Thank you so much for helping my friend and her son. You can rest assured that this money will be put to good use by a hard-working mother trying to make the best life for her sick child. Again, thank you for being so kind and giving! It is much appreciated by all! My birthday is this month and I will be signing up on www.ericandfriends.com to make a yearly contribution in Eric’s honor.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Molly Howell (Margie Lowndes’ daughter)

Eric and Friends Brings Aid to Western Nebraska Families
In January 2007 Ericandfriends assisted three families in western Nebraska who wish to remain anonymous that were brought to our attention. Our source had knowledge of these situations and we had enough information to know that we would be a definite help. They had been devastated by the ice storms that came through that area. Loss of power, physical home damage, not being able to get to work, etc. left these families in tough situations. We sent a little something to each of them to help get them back on their feet.

Great is thy Faithfulness
Great is they Faithfulness
Morning-by-morning new mercies I see
All that I needed thy hand has provided great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto thee
To our new Husker Family and Friends,
Greetings from the Nix family and all our Katrina Survivors,
Words cannot accurately relay our gratitude and appreciation for what was provided through you. Our hearts are overwhelmed and overjoyed right now. You just don’t know how much you’ve blessed us.
As many of you know, 2005 was an extremely difficult year for our family especially the last 3 months when we had the responsibility of caring for so many of our family members from Louisiana who were left homeless from Hurricane Katrina. Prior to that, our family had endured sickness, surgery and a car accident, all of which left life difficult to manage even before the crisis in September. By December for the first time in our lives we had no idea how we would make it from day to day, but we knew God would be faithful and provide for us, we just had no idea how.
So imagine our great surprise as we went to the mailbox on December 17th and received a wonderful Christmas greeting and contribution to our family from someone we didn’t even know. But it didn’t stop there; the next day wasn’t one blessing, but 3, and the next day 5 and so on for 5 or 6 days to follow. We were speechless and amazed!
So many of you out there in Husker Country cared enough about us here in Colorado, to help lift us out of our situation. Not only did you help us financially, you helped restore our hope and joy during this Holiday season, and you provided a way for us to get on our feet and look forward to a much better 2006. Your generosity yet humbling to us was God’s way of delivering our family, and for that we are forever grateful to Him and to you our new Husker Friends.
We would like to thank you not only for your contributions, but also for your letters, notes and words of encouragement, gifts and prayers. It was wonderful to here from Husker fans from all over the Nation, and even from our new friend in Kuwait, Wow! Thanks to Dan Phillips, our new friend since September for blessing our family himself and for passing on the word to you, and thank you for responding.
May God bless you and keep you, may He make his face shine upon you!
Eric, Shantelle & Family.
The Johnson’s kicked off Eric and Friends with a gift and selected the first recipient. She is a working mother who lives in the Northeastern United States. She has three children at home and was having to choose between car payments (needed to get to work) and some meals and other necessities. She had worked 16 hours a day, 7 days a week to fund a down payment for her small home, which she bought. That took it’s toll in a physical and mental breakdown. Small wonder.
After recovery, she went back to work, but the very small child support from her ex, and her reduced job hours have created a tough combination. She hopes to go back to school to finish her professional degree as she is at an assistant level currently.
Her story is one of a person not afraid of hard work and a person not looking for a hand out. We found her, she wasn’t looking for help from us. The help from Eric and Friends was in two parts: an outright gift and a loan. The no interest loan is structured over such a period of time as to not create an undo hardship. The combination of the gift and the loan allowed the car to be paid off, freeing up dollars for those necessities needed in feeding and caring for a family. This mother and three children will benefit from this choice.
We received her permission to tell her story and we hope to stay in touch and keep you updated on her progress.
